|
The Government of Bangladesh
established the Social Development Foundation (SDF) in 2000 as
an autonomous organization and SDF was registered under the
Companies Act of 1994 on 28 July 2001 as a not-for-profit body.
SDF facilitates sustainable social and economic development and
poverty reduction by building institutions of the poor at the
village level increasing their access to knowledge and
resources, and supporting sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Poverty Reduction Strategy Of Bangladesh |
|
Government of Bangladesh vision is pronounced in the poverty reduction strategy paper, “Unlocking the Potential”. The National Strategy for Accelerated Poverty Reduction, centre around on a policy triangle of Growth, Human Development and Governance. The pro-poor economic growth reduced vulnerability and human developments are proposed to be achieved through participation and inclusion, good governance and improved service delivery. The poverty reduction strategy of the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) aiming to reduce by 50% the number of people living Below the Poverty Line by 2020 broadly focuses on:

Flood Restoration and Recovery Assistance Program |

The Social
Development Foundation along with Palli Karma Shahayak
Foundation (PKSF) is also implementing a flood restoration
and recovery assistance program in the districts devastated by
floods in 2007.

|

|
Under
its Social Investment Program Project
(SIPP), the Social Development Foundation is implementing a
program, ‘Post-Sidr and Livelihood Restoration Program’,
aiming to help restore the assets and livelihoods of the people
affected by devastating Cyclone
Sidr in 2007.
