The DORP and
Associates has provided "Training on Management of Self-help
Organization (VDC) at village level and Rural Leadership
Development" to the VDC and PMC leaders. After attending the
training Mr. Bulbul Islam the VDC Chairperson, who is also an
assistant Teacher of Baruamari Junior Girls' High School became
enthusiastic on realizing the group strength and took initiative
to contact the local LGED. He took the lead, visited the LGED
office at Jamalpur along with the VDC members and informed them
of the problem of faulty construction and its consequences on
the village life. They also formally requested LGED officials to
investigate into the matter and to take necessary corrective
measures. Consequently the LGED, Jamalpur called the contractor
again and asked them to construct the wing walls as they had
left the bridge incomplete.
Finally the contractor had to respond and had to construct the
wing walls of the bridge. The VDC of Baruamari village has
completed the earthen road and the road is now usable during the
rainy season.
